me

1.  I am currently re-reading House of Leaves.  The first time I picked it up was in ’04, I believe, and gave it away because it frustrated me so.  I’m enjoying it this time around.

2.  Last night at the MA46 show, a girl spent the their entire set eye fucking Daniel, the singer, and then she grabbed my ass.  It was unpleasant, to say the least.  There was also a tampon stuck in the windshield of my car at some point in the evening, thankfully, it was unused.  I twittered about it all already though, so sorry if you’re already on the up and up about those incidents.

3.  I do not care nor am I concerned about Swine Flu.

4.  Courtney Riot and I are going to Portland at the end of May, and I am super excited.  I’m setting aside one night to shoot Suicide Girls sets, but other than that I am really looking forward to walking around town, seeing lots of friends, and visiting Powell’s book store

5.  I’ve recently fallen in love with Holgas.  Riot is bringing hers with us to Portland so I can try it out before purchasing my own.  If you’re not familiar with them, do a search on Flickr for images and groups

tagged with it.  It’s sort of funny to me that I just bought a super slick Canon 5D and a 24-70mm lens, but now want something that will produce really lo-fi images.

6.  The first disk of Battlestar Gallatica arrived from Netflix today.  I love having a new series to get engrossed in.  A few weeks ago, Liam and I watched Taken, and it was awesome.  I’m two episodes behind on Lost right now, and refuse to watch them until the season is over to minimize the cliff hanger agony.

7.  We’re planning on replacing the Swiss Chard in the garden with strawberries.  The basil needs to be replanted as well, since it didn’t make it through the unusually cold winter we had this year.  I’m going to plant a lot less spinach than I did last summer, since I couldn’t eat enough of it to keep up.

8.  I could eat pizza from Vito’s and apple pie from Jones Cafe every single day.

9.  We are seriously considering quitting smoking in the House of Lynch.  We made it about two weeks last year, and every day of that was the worst day of my life.  Prices were just raised to almost $8 a pack here, and well … it’s just a stupid thing to do.  Try telling that to all my nicotine soaked little neurons, though.

10.  I’d like to end this entry with something profound and thought provoking, but I’ve got nothing.  Instead, I leave you with an awesome music video.

House of Leaves is awesome (and definitely worth the slog-through)! You may already know this, but when you get to the footnote directing you to read the letters from Johnny’s mom, you should probably do it, even though it means leaving the “main” narrative for a time. Right, sorry–I just really love the book. :)

You can’t quit smoking before Portland! That’s like 2 weeks before I get knocked up, and you best believe I’m gonna be smoking like a little chimney, HA!

@Sayward – I am nearly positive I am not embarking on that misadventure before Portland. I would never make it through the trip.

@Dave – I don’t think i’ve gotten that far yet! I’ll have to back track a bit to be sure though.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I’m so glad I’m not the only person in the whole GD world who is not concerned about or rabbitting on about Swine Flu. Twitter is lit up like it’s a fanfare Christmas in Vegas with #swineflu — the world’s gone mad, hasn’t it?

I work on bio thingys detection for a living – h1n1 is very worriesome. I will forego a protracted discussion of flu/virus species and mutations. Needless to say, “The Stand” presents a viable, although extreme, scenario.

A long time ago (27 yrs), I quit smoking. I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker by the time I was 21 – Newport 100′s, puctuated by those unfiltered clove things. When I got bored or went out drinking, I smoked even more. In order to quit, I went cold turkey for as long as I could stand it – about two weeks. When I could stand it no longer, I chain-smoked until I passed out. Probably a mild nicotene poisoning. I was probably flirting with a tachycardia. When I gained conciousness, I puked my guts out for the rest of the afternoon. And then I was done smoking forever.

you think house of leaves is frustrating? try ONLY REVOLUTIONS. hot fuck.

  7. Samantha

Only Revolutions is on my reading list. I’m preparing myself for the anguish everyone keeps warning me about.

And I think “hot fuck” should be used to describe more literature.
