Michael Jackson will truly be with us forever – all that plastic in his face isn’t bio-degradable.

Anyway, I am not a California resident or even an American so feel free to tell me to shut my pie hole on this, but why are so many ragging on Michael Jackson now? Don’t get me wrong, I agree with what has been said here – but the stuff that has gone on in the wake of his death isn’t Jacksons fault. The public funeral… the fucking stupid news organizations going on and on about it as if it was important… the conspiracy theories that he is hiding out somewhere and made this whole thing up to get out of the European tour… all of this is driven by some bean-counters in the upper-echelons of the the media organizations.

The man isn’t what is getting buried, they are burying a brand.

The problem really boils down to us. When we see Jacko splattered across the front of a newspaper we shouldn’t buy that paper. When we see him on the news doing that stupid moonwalk we should turn the telly over to something more cultured (like Baywatch). But it won’t happen, mark my words. When Britney Spears kicks the bucket there will be 7 millions trees worth of newspapers printed containing nothing more than ‘facts’ about her. She’ll get a public burial just like whacko-Jacko. And it won’t really be her fault. It will be ours for turning her into a brand.

I don’t feel like I look foolish or bitter, Rex. I feel like I stated my point, which was that I don’t think it was the CA taxpayers responsibility to have to take a hit for the memorial costs. Nor do I feel that I was ignorant or callous, although you are welcome to your opinion.

I actually am well aware of the details of both cases, and I don’t think whether or not he is alive or dead makes a difference for me to have my own opinion on it.

If you are to now consider me “well below the dead man” and a creep, so be it. At least I don’t spend my time engaging in inappropriate relationships with young children or expecting the general public in a time of great fiscal turmoil to cover my unnecessary costs.

For fuck’s sake people, he was a pop star, not a world leader.

Ya know, I agree with you about the tax dollars bs. IN fact, when Michael Jackson died, I said “so what”, being of the same minded “pedophile” believing group. I also agree that the media is out of control. But I figured, ya know, if I’m going to open my mouth and start trashing a now dead man, maybe I should actually know what the hell I’m talking about and began looking up the details of both cases.

I now believe there’s a distinct possibility he was INNOCENT of those charges and allegations. And even if there’s 1% chance he was not the monster you’ve just portrayed him, then most of what you wrote comes off extremely ignorant let alone callous.

Like you, I’m not much of a fan of his music but the man DID do a lot of good with his money and fame, a fact that cannot be denied. And just because you and I cannot “relate” to what his fans feel, doesn’t mean it’s right to bash those who are sad over his death. Too far? YES absolutely. Jackson weird and eccentric? Of course. But all this blog entry did was cause you to look very foolish and bitter.

You’re free to say what you want but so are others free to consider YOU way below the dead man you now look like a total creep yourself for bashing.

Knowing you like SVU, I figured you’d appreciate the irony more than most. :D
I think the city should count up the costs and file a lien against the estate. After all, the family didn’t HAVE to have a public service.
Much as I hate the O’Reillys of the world on the right and left (for talking AT you instead of TO you and encouraging people to hate other people solely for their political views), but in this case O’Reilly is just speaking common sense. He should try that more often.
And even if MJ didn’t molest those two boys, his behavior around kids was inappropriate and creepy.

Hear, hear – and he didn’t even sing my favourite song from the early 80′s (that would be “Come Dancing” by The Kinks). It’s Princess Diana all over again – just because people were used to reading about everything he did in the tabloids and celebrity mags, they think they’ve lost a close personal friend. Ho hum.

I agree Michael is wack and I never got his appeal and shit howdy for molesting boys. At the same time, nobody messes with Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin etc etc for messing with little girls. There are about as many lawsuits dismissed on that because it was supposedly consensual and the parents caught wind, collected out of court, Ladida. It is ALL fucked up. Man in the mirror shit.
