For my birthday, the Mister bought me an amazing sewing machine, which then took me two months to take out of the box.  Finally, this past weekend, I opened it up and figured it out (with the help of Chloe via iChat video and speaker phone).  I’ve started on a very industrious first project, which once I’ve figured out exactly what’s going on with it, I’ll share with the lot of you.  I’m hoping that by winter, I’m a master seamstress and badass designer.  Practice, practice, practice.

Coffee & Cigarettes, you go hand in hand.  I’m getting rid of the latter in my ten billionth attempt to quit.  Smokes are up to $12 a pack in NYC!  $12!

I’ve tried nearly everything to quit smoking in the past – the patch, the gum, cold turkey, weening myself off – and none of it has worked.  This time around, we’re taking baby steps.

• Phase One : No more smoking in the house!  We’re currently on Day 3 of this, and without even realizing it, are smoking nearly half of what I normally would.
• Phase Two : Clean out the debris.  Yesterday, I put away the ashtrays, clean the living hell out of the house, and did my best to deodorize everything.  Leaving bowls of distilled white vinegar out overnight helped freshen the air up a lot.
• Phase Three : NJOY!  I am currently sitting here waiting for UPS to arrive with the electronic cigarettes I ordered last week.  The plan is to substitute regular cigarettes with these, and then work my way down to using no nicotine cartridges.  If all goes according to plan, I’ll still be preforming the habitual acts, without any of the addictive elements, so that I can break the physical and mental addictions separately.
• Phase Four : Get the fuck in shape.

Did you pick the song that you cast a spell to in the Suicide Girls Guide to Living?  The song is good.

I did not!  I had no idea what music would be set to it, but I did like that song quite a bit.  It was called “Chateau” by The Brute Chorus.

Who does your tattoos?

The majority of my tattoos have been done by Tim Kern (ymonster about the web) of Tribulation Tattoo in NYC.

Why did you pick the name Fractal?

When I first joined Suicide Girls in 2003, I had been using Fractal as my email address, so it was just seemed appropriate to use as my alias on SG.  In retrospect, I do wish I had selected something a bit less esoteric (and ridiculous).

Which was your first tattoo and where is it?

My very first tattoo is the dragon on my back, which was a birthday present from my mom when I turned 13!

When no one is looking, what are you likely to be doing?

At this very moment, absolutely no one (that I am aware of) is looking at me, and I am sitting on the couch with my feet on the coffee table, half watching How I Met Your Mother & answering strangers’ questions on the internet.  The former is typical, the latter is not.

Oh, yes, indeed : MOAR FROM VEGAS.  It will never end.  Yes, it was fucking freezing in the loading bay of the empty furniture store where I shot Snow.  Yes, it was very late and had been a very long day.  Yes, I am aware that 90% of the shots from this set are from the same angle.

Rambo : Wedding was shot in separate parts, first in the loading bay, then a few hours later in the bathroom & hallways of the hotel, and even later, in the casino of the Hard Rock.  There was much running back and forth, there was Death Plague, there was a very exhausted me.

Steve Agee Chicken Run movie

took these of me yesterday on the set of the Sarah Silverman Program.  I was an extra in an episode, and wardrobe added a vest that I think may have been a skinned Muppet over the outfit that I arrived in.  Thankfully, I didn’t wind up in the chicken suit that some poor guy was handed, so it could have been much, much worse.  Not sure when the episode is airing, or if I’ll even wind up in any of the shots, but it was a fun day.  I got to hang out with my friend Kate Gremlins 2: The New Batch full

A Good Night to Die movie Noelle dvd that I don’t get to see very often, and we waited patiently for our unwritten nap time scene on an air conditioned set that never came.

TV production is a funny thing.  I’ve done a few spots now, and it’s a strange beast.  I’ve always been on set as talent, and the majority of the time that you’re there, you’re sitting and waiting.  There’s always a scurry of frantic action going on around you, important decisions being made and walkie talkies going off, but 3/4s of the day you are waiting.  You wait for a very long time.  Long enough that finally you think that you can wander off for a bit and get lost on the lot looking for the bathroom or stand around smoking cigarettes, or mill over to the craft services table to eat junk food, but NO.  Once you think you can do these things, you are required to be in action.  And they actually yell ACTION at you!  It is startling.

Zoetica took this photo of me about a week ago as part of a “What I Wore” shoot for Haute Macabre.  I was dead tired to the point where my eyes were moving independently of one another (they do that, on occasion), so I scrapped the rest of the pics and will be re-shooting sometime soon for the article.

Despite the vast amount of work I’ve done for Suicide Girls, I actually don’t like having my photo taken all that much.  It always feels rather self-indulgent, and I do enough of spoiling myself in other ways.

In other news, I finished reading House of Leaves

the other night and picked up a copy of Only Revolutions

I plan on spending my afternoon with it.
